GKC Community Beach Clean-Up - July 30, 2006

Students and parents from GKC got together early the morning of July 30th. Armed with trash bags and plastic gloves we combed the beach for over an hour picking up trash (of which there was plenty!). Perhaps not the most attractive activity, everyone came away with a sense of achievement and good feeling having taken an active role contributing to the upkeep or our community.

GKC Summer Camp - July 24 - 28, 2006

The GKC summer camp was held July 24th thru 28th. This was our best camp to date with campers participating in such varied activities as Laser tag to snorkeling, and a day at the water park to rock climbing. Summer Camp is for children 8 years and up. All camp activities are supervised by professionals in their field. Just ask camp pariticipants; they'll tell you this is there best camp of the summer! Anyone can participate, you don't have to be a dojo member to participate. For information about next year's camp please contact us at: gojukaratecenter@sbcglobal.net

Jundokan Iowa Seminars - June 8, 9, 10, 2006

Five instructors from the Jundokan in Okinawa traveled to Iowa to teach a series of seminars. This was an opportunity not to miss. Sensei Paul together with other dojo instructors, Mike Fisher, Tim Schinhofen, Michelle Kenyon, Eli DePalma, Mike DeAngelis and Jesse Torres from GKC Kent WA, travelled to Iowa to particpate. It was a wonderful time with attendees from all over the United States and Canada coming to take part. In addition to the Seminar a special belt examination was held for Sensei Mike Fisher where he was promoted to yondan (4th degree black belt). Congratulations to Sensei Mike, who has been a cornerstone of the dojo for many years now.
