Adult Black Belt Test - August 12, 2007

Four candidates challenged their Shodan (1st degree black belt) this August. Carli Herrs from GKC Washington; Jackie DuPlante, Jori Enfield, and Brock Kelley from Honbu dojo here in Carlsbad.  All candidates were successful after displaying a variety of martial arts skills, great spirit and a great attitude through a gruelling 3 and a half hour test. It was evident that they were all thoroughly prepared. A large part of their preparation began 3 months before testing day. During this time candidates were required to perform "random acts of kindness," read and summarize a martial arts/history/personal development book, assist in classes, monitor and adjust their nutritional intake, perform numerous physical challenges, all in addition to their regular training.
