Congratulations to Sensei Michelle who was awarded the rare honor of being promoted to Ni dan (2nd degree black belt) by Kancho Miyazato (head of the Jundokan in Okinawa). Kancho, along with Gima Sensei and Ganaha Sensei were here for the Jundokan Gasshuku hosted by Goju Karate Center October 6 thru 8, 2007. Upon learning that Sensei Michelle held the rank of ("only") 1st degree black belt thought her level far exceeded her belt rank and made the unusual decision to promote her on the spot to 2nd degree black belt. This is a reflection of her dedication to excellence in karate, and also reflects the overall high standards observed here at Goju Karate Center.
