Sensei Michelle Enfield is joint owner and a full-time instructor at Goju Karate Center. Sensei Michelle earned her Yondan (fourth-degree black belt) in August of 2013. Her infectious energy and attitude infuse students with positive energy and enthusiasm which inspires them to achieve the very highest levels of physical achievement and mental mastery. She is the founder of our GOLD (Guidance on Leadership Development) Team. These elite GKC members are held to the highest standard and their curriculum includes: mentoring junior students, outstanding leadership by example, being positive role models both in and out of the dojo, public speaking and communication skills.
Sensei Michelle is a credentialed Advocate for the State of California, through Center for Community Solutions, and volunteers on a weekly basis as a Crisis Intervention Counselor. In this capacity, she volunteers her time to support the survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. As a survivor of child abuse herself, she was drawn to the martial arts for empowerment, confidence and to leverage her experiences to be a force for good in the community.
She is a former preschool owner and teacher, with a certification in Early Childhood Education. A native of Los Angeles, California, Michelle also has served as a Special Olympics coach, fundraising coordinator and certified fitness instructor.
When not at the dojo, Sensei Michelle loves to spend time with her three daughters, enjoys exploring nature, traveling with her husband, Paul, and cultivating meaningful relationships. She also gives back to the community by coordinating educational talks and interactive demonstrations at local schools and pre-schools. In addition, she works with Soroptimist International of Oceanside, raising funds for Women and Girls and serves on the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Education and Ambassador committees. Sensei Michelle is the founder of Get Your Black Belt On workshops provided to the community exclusively by Goju Karate Center. She is available for booking karate demonstrations, corporate team building as well as self-empowerment and self-defense seminars.
